Glad to hear you're back in the legacy glass game as it were!

I love my 7 but I also try and talk friends into taking the plunge with a lower-end body. For that, I'll keep the C3 in mind...
    NEX-7 • SEL24 • Sigma 19 & 30 • Leitz Macro-Elmarit 60mm • Micro-Nikkor 105mm • and a whole bunch of other legacy glass...

I wouldn't say it's a bad grip for legacy lenses. It never was an issue when I had a C3 and all I use are legacy lenses. The 5n grip is deeper but and I like it a bit better but it's really more of a personal preference thing.

I like the C3 grip. Like the 5N grip as well. Both are comfortable. Glad you're keeping an NEX on hand, nianys!

One small thing about C3, is that the base ISO is 200. May or may not matter to you, just don't understand why Sony does not use 100.

I never found it to be a problem with the C3, but it is odd that they did that with the ISO. Maybe a way to distinguish the 5N.

At any rate, I think the used C3 and Sigma dual-lens kit is about the best bang for the buck I've seen in a long time.

THe 200 base ISO doesn't bother me at all, it will mostly be shot at 400 with flash anyway
