Manual. Set ISO according to the available light, set the aperture on the lens and then just spin the back wheel with my thumb to control the shutter speed and get the exposure I want.

I use 'S' mode usually sometimes 'A' when it's bright out. On the NEX-7 in 'M' mode, the top wheels control shutter speed and aperture, with the click wheel controlling iso but since aperture is manually set, the right side wheel does nothing. In 'S' mode the wheels control shutter speed and exposure compensation making the right wheel useful again.
    Thanked by eno789.

Have been using 'A' mode with my 5N and adapted lenses most of the time.

Basically, set the aperture based on DoF I want, start ISO according to light, keep an eye on the shutter speed to be faster than 1/Effective-Focal-Length if possible, if not, adjust ISO, open up aperture, risk it, or give up the shot. With this process, all I need to control on the camera, is just ISO (assign to right key on 5N).

Try to keep it as simple as possible, leave exposure comp and WB to PP. Moving to a new camera also is easier. For long exposure and flash photography, I may need to change to 'M'.

Manual for me most of the time. If I'm going to be changing aperture back and fourth a lot (say, for lens tests or alternating shallow & deep focus) sometimes aperture priority gets used.
    NEX-7 • SEL24 • Sigma 19 & 30 • Leitz Macro-Elmarit 60mm • Micro-Nikkor 105mm • and a whole bunch of other legacy glass...
